Recovering from an illness

Whether it’s covid or another virus, Chinese medicine has a lot to offer. A well crafted herbal formula (meaning a group of herbs meant to work synergistically together) can work absolute magic. I know this from personal experience, the experience I have with my patients and from literally thousands of years of clinical expertise documented in the Chinese medical texts. Please don’t hesitate to make a phone appointment to get some herbs directly into your hands as soon as humanly possible. Many symptoms will literally melt away.

Basic tips for wellness:

Stay warm. Keep your body warm and don’t allow yourself to get chilled. It makes your body work harder when all it’s attention should be put into making you well again. This is a great time for a hot bath. And order some mustard bath, Dr. Singha’s is a good choice, nice and spicy to sweat it out!

Rest. Rest more than you think you need to. You may feel better after a few days so you do too much and then the next day you feel awful again. Don’t expend vital energy right now, viruses have a way of coming back to bite you in the butt. Even after you feel completely well, allow yourself more rest than usual. Don’t go back to your normal routines and expect yourself to keep up. Long or chronic Covid can stem from not resting enough during this period and from improper herbs or supplements. Take is easy.

Moderate movement. Walking is good for your body so don’t stay away from all movement. Just keep it moderate.

Simple foods. Lots of fluids, broths, medicinal teas like Throat Coat and Breath Easy, ginger tea, are what your body needs right now. Keep your meals simple, apple sauce and oatmeal, rice and veggies, soup and broth. And make sure you’re eating warm cooked foods! Raw takes too much energy to digest right now.

Sleep Make sure you are able to sleep. Sometimes the body gets into a hyper alert fright/flight phase and it makes it hard to sleep. You can use magnesium and or melatonin to get the body to down regulate.
